Mahabharat......

This is a painting on my wall....called the Mahabharat.....

Its about the chir-haran of Draupadi... the politics involved (symbolized by the chess pieces)... and the game of "chaupad".... And behind all this.. Yudhishthir was helpless and could do nothing apart from closing his eyes and crying...

but i think that Yudhisthir did not deserve any pity for his regret and shamefullness....if he was truly the one who cared about his wife he wouldnt hav placed a bet on her in the first place. even if he shed tears it was b'coz he was shameful that his respect in society is at stake rather than his wife's self respect. in fact i wudnt hav doubted that he wud hav left her had Krishna not come to her rescue. i believe there shiould be draupadi shedding tears rather than yudhisthir as her sorrow is more than Yudhisthir's selfish tears

well thats the idea.....yudhishthir is portrayed as helpless due to his own deeds....its not that he's shedding tears...he has simply closed his eyes for he could do nothing to stop it...

but with this painting you intend to show pity for Yudhisthir who according to me doesnt deserve it but Draupadi whose sorrows are genuine does deserve pity....

m not taking ne sides in it....m simply narrating an incident through it and the situation involved.....its upto the viewer to decide whether what yudhisthir did was simply due to pressure or was it his own mistake...
